Shahid Kapoor commented, “I know Irshad ji since a very long time. He has been writing script for mu father’s serials. Then he wrote lyrics for my Jab We met and he is also writing for my next film with dad. He is a great writer and a very soft spoken man.”
Irshad Kamil’s first award was Screen Award for his song chor bazari from film Love Aaj Kal. His second honor came from his listeners when they chose his film Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani as the Album of the Year. Best is that each time it is a different song that has brought him laurels. Laughs he, “that is the surprise. Every award has been for a different song and that is extremely heartening and humbling. It puts more pressure because expectations increase in equal measures.”
Since the first film Chameli, Irshad Kmail never had to look back. His poetry is natural, emotional and very sensitive. But master of words, he is now experimenting with them in two of his films. Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge has medley of songs that are funny, whacky but fit into the situation to the ‘T’. Same is the case with Action Replay. Comments Irshad, “I can write a song for any genre but people like my love songs more. But I must say please listen to my other song too.”
Irshad Kamil had done is Ph.D. in Literature. Playing with words is his passion and reciting poetry a habit. He has written number of romantic songs and is currently working on film stories too. His song repertoire consists of films like Chameli, Shabd, Dhol, A Wednesday, Aa Dekhe Zara, jab We met, Love Aaj Kal, Ajam Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, De Dana Dan, Neal ‘N’ Nikki, Ahista Ahista, Karam etc. His forthcoming films are Action Replay, Hook Ya Crook, Tum Milo To Sahee, garam Hawayein, Hook ya Crook and Atithi Tum Kab Jaaoge?
