I started the bikini trend: Urvashi Sharma

After a promising debut in Naqaab, Urvashi Sharma literally disappeared from the big screen. Even her much touted seven film contract with Tips (her Naqaab producers) did not see the light of the day. But now Urvashi is all prepared to make a comeback with a vengeance with her upcoming film Baabarr.

Urvashi states, “I got a lot of critical appreciation for my role in the movie. I don’t know what went wrong later but yes I lost on time. Money for me is not important today and I am looking forward to doing good films. Time and tide waits for no one but one never gets more than what one is destined for.”

Urvashi will be seen sharing screen space with National Award winning actors like Mithun Chakraborty and Om Puri in Baabarr. She admits, “Yes I was nervous working with them. They are stalwarts.” She is the surprise element in Baabarr and has an important role in the film. “The film is all about guns, anger and betrayal. It’s not a romantic film. Each and every character is there for a reason in the film and it not just put randomly.  We have shot on real locales. It’s a completely deglam role” Urvashi reveals.

After Baabarr, Urvashi shall be seen in Ajay Phasekar’s Mukti in a glam avatar playing a super model. “I have always been glam. I wore a bikini in my debut film. I started the bikini trend. I was also the first model to shoot for a swimwear collection of Reebok in 2005. I am proud that other actresses are following me” she adds with a laugh.

About her forthcoming projects, she says, “I am doing two more films. Chai Garam with Govinda and director Revathy’s next with Jaya Bachchan.”
